VanVed vs Zendesk
for Helpdesk & Complaints
Why businesses choose VanVed over Zendesk
VanVed carries no per-agent fee — the whole helpdesk, including round-robin, the escalation matrix and the public knowledge base, comes with the platform rather than at $55–$115 per agent per month. The round-robin rotation also reads approved leave from the HR module and skips anyone who is off, which a standalone helpdesk cannot do because it does not know your leave calendar. A low CSAT rating can automatically reopen the ticket, which is a rule you would normally have to build.
Capability by capability
Every row below is what our 2026 research found — including the rows we lose.
| Capability | VanVed | Zendesk |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price per agent | Included in the platform subscription — no per-agent fee | $19/agent/mo for ticketing only; $55 for Suite Team, $115 for Suite Professional (annual) |
| SLA policies and breach reporting | Per-priority first-response and resolution targets, snapshotted at creation; breach % in reports | SLA management from the higher Suite tiers |
| Business hours on the SLA clock | None — SLA counts calendar hours, so a Friday evening ticket burns its clock over the weekend | Business-hours schedules and holiday calendars |
| Live chat transport | Polling — the widget asks for new messages every few seconds; no websocket infrastructure exists | Websocket-based real-time messaging via the Web Widget |
| Chat widget on your own website | Widget only runs on the VanVed-hosted /support pages — no embeddable snippet for an external site | Embeddable JS widget for any site or app |
| Email as a ticket channel | Email is a label on a ticket only — nothing is ingested from a mailbox and no reply is ever emailed out | Email-to-ticket and threaded email replies on every plan |
| Round-robin assignment | Built in and free, and it skips agents on approved leave | Omnichannel routing from Suite Team; skills-based routing at Professional |
| Ticket merge and split | Neither — duplicates stay as separate tickets | Merge and split are standard |
| Public knowledge base and CSAT | Published articles on a public help page, plus a one-time-token CSAT survey that can auto-reopen a ticket rated 1–2 | Help centre and CSAT surveys, multi-brand help centres on higher tiers |
Where Zendesk is ahead of us today
Zendesk is a real support desk and VanVed is not yet. Email does not work at all: nothing is ingested from a mailbox, no reply ever leaves the system, and the CSAT link has to be copied and sent by hand. Chat is polled rather than pushed and only runs on VanVed's own support pages, so it cannot sit on your website. There are no business hours, so an SLA clock runs through nights and weekends; there is no ticket merge or split; and the only AI in the helpdesk drafts a reply for an agent from the ticket's last customer message — no triage, no summarisation, nothing a customer ever sees.
We publish this because a comparison that only flatters us is worth nothing to you. If one of these gaps is the thing you actually need, Zendesk may well be the better buy.
