VanVed vs TrueCoach
for Coaching
Why businesses choose VanVed over TrueCoach
VanVed has no client cap, where TrueCoach's price triples between 20 and 50 clients, and the coach's clients are the same records their invoices, bookings and CRM pipeline run on rather than a silo. Neither product has shipped AI, so that is a genuine draw rather than a loss.
Capability by capability
Every row below is what our 2026 research found — including the rows we lose.
| Capability | VanVed | TrueCoach |
|---|---|---|
| Client limits | No client cap on the coaching module | Hard caps: 5 clients at $26, 20 at $58, 50 at $137, custom above |
| Exercise demo library | None. An assignment is an exercise name, sets, reps and notes | 3,500+ recorded exercise demos plus custom video upload |
| Client-side progress view | A client can pull their own progress records and assigned workouts through a dedicated endpoint | Full client app with logging |
| Body metrics and progress photos | Not modelled at all | Progress photos, body metrics, reps, weight and heart rate |
| Messaging and check-ins | No message thread and no check-in form; the coach's only channel is the notes field on a progress record | In-app messaging with media, group messaging, and automated risk assessment that flags falling compliance |
| Wearables | None | Apple Health, Garmin, WHOOP and Oura |
| AI features | Not in this module | No confirmed shipped AI feature either — only marketing assets |
| What the coach's business runs on | The coaching module shares its customer record with CRM, invoicing, payments and scheduling in the same tenant | Coaching-only; billing is Stripe through TrueCoach, everything else is another tool |
Where TrueCoach is ahead of us today
TrueCoach does the day-to-day of coaching that VanVed simply has not built: a 3,500-demo exercise library, progress photos and body metrics, in-app messaging with media, wearable sync, and automated alerts when a client's compliance slips. VanVed's coach writes an exercise name into a text field and has no way to message the client inside the product.
We publish this because a comparison that only flatters us is worth nothing to you. If one of these gaps is the thing you actually need, TrueCoach may well be the better buy.
