VanVed vs ABC Trainerize
for Coaching
Why businesses choose VanVed over ABC Trainerize
VanVed's coaching module is honest about what it is and costs one price with no add-on ladder — Trainerize charges separately for nutrition, video coaching, payments and the branded app, so a realistic solo-coach bill is many times its headline. VanVed's coach also sits inside a full business system, with the same client record feeding CRM, invoices and payroll.
Capability by capability
Every row below is what our 2026 research found — including the rows we lose.
| Capability | VanVed | ABC Trainerize |
|---|---|---|
| Coach profiles and programs | Coach profile with expertise and experience, programs with a duration in weeks and a draft/active/archived lifecycle | Coach profiles and a full program builder |
| Workout assignment | Exercise name, sets, a rep prescription that accepts ranges and schemes, and coaching notes — deliberately minimal, no exercise library | Exercise library with demo videos, custom exercise videos, and an AI workout builder |
| Nutrition and meal plans | Nothing. There is no nutrition concept anywhere in the module | Smart and flexible meal planners with photo and barcode food logging — a $20–45/month add-on |
| Progress tracking | Sessions completed against sessions planned, plus coach notes. No body metrics, no progress photos, no habits | Progress reports, compliance tracking, habit streaks and badges |
| Coach to client messaging | None. There is no coach-client message thread in the product | One-to-one and group in-app messaging, voice messages and group video calls |
| Client mobile app | No mobile app for this module — the client sees their assigned workouts on the web | Client app on every tier; a branded app is $169 one-time on Pro, included on Studio Plus |
| Selling a package of sessions | Packages can be created and priced, but a paid package is never fulfilled — no progress record is created or updated. Only a whole program fulfils on payment | Stripe one-time and recurring billing, as a $10/month add-on |
| Cost of a full coaching setup | One price, no add-ons — coaching arrives with CRM, billing, HR and the rest of the platform | The $23 headline becomes $100–200/month once nutrition, video coaching, payments and the branded app are added |
Where ABC Trainerize is ahead of us today
For a working personal trainer this is not a fair fight. Trainerize has an exercise library with demo videos, meal planning with photo food logging, habit streaks, wearable sync across Apple Watch, Garmin, Fitbit and MyFitnessPal, in-app messaging and a branded client app. VanVed's coaching module has a text-only exercise prescription, a session counter and no way for a coach and client to talk inside the product. A purchased session package does not even grant anything.
We publish this because a comparison that only flatters us is worth nothing to you. If one of these gaps is the thing you actually need, ABC Trainerize may well be the better buy.
