VanVed vs Teams
for Notifications
Why businesses choose VanVed over Teams
A VanVed notification is a pointer into the system of record — it names the object, links to it and tracks whether that specific person has read it — where a Teams message is only as useful as the link somebody remembered to paste. Nothing is licensed per seat, and an org can forward any category it chooses into a Teams channel, so adopting VanVed does not mean leaving Teams.
Capability by capability
Every row below is what our 2026 research found — including the rows we lose.
| Capability | VanVed | Teams |
|---|---|---|
| Licensing | Included; no separate seat | Teams Essentials from about $4/user/mo, or bundled in Microsoft 365; Teams Premium is a $10/user/mo add-on |
| Notification tied to a business record | Every notification carries the module, the object and a deep link to it | A chat message; the link is whatever the sender pasted |
| Read receipts | Read state per notification per user, and unread counts | Read receipts in 1:1 and small group chats |
| Urgent or repeating alerts | No priority levels — every notification is equal and fires once | Priority notifications re-alert every 2 minutes for 20 minutes until read |
| Quiet hours | None | Quiet hours and quiet days per user |
| Forwarding to an external channel | Webhooks per organization with per-category filtering, so alerts can be posted into a Teams channel | Native, plus connectors and Power Automate |
| Mobile push | The code is complete but unconfigured — no Firebase project, so pushes are a logged no-op | Works on iOS and Android |
| Meetings, calls and files | Out of scope for this module | Core to the product |
Where Teams is ahead of us today
Teams is a full collaboration suite and this module is a notification list, so most of the comparison goes Microsoft's way on breadth. Within the narrow scope: Teams has priority notifications that keep alerting until someone reads them, quiet hours, and push that works. VanVed has no priority concept, no quiet hours, and — the real problem — a push pipeline that is fully written but has never had a Firebase project created, so it delivers nothing.
We publish this because a comparison that only flatters us is worth nothing to you. If one of these gaps is the thing you actually need, Teams may well be the better buy.
