VanVed vs Asset Panda
for Assets
Why businesses choose VanVed over Asset Panda
Because VanVed's assets point at the same Party record as HR, a laptop hand-back is part of offboarding rather than a separate system to reconcile, and every employee can see what they hold. It costs nothing extra on top of the platform, where Asset Panda is a four-figure annual contract before it tracks a single laptop.
Capability by capability
Every row below is what our 2026 research found — including the rows we lose.
| Capability | VanVed | Asset Panda |
|---|---|---|
| Asset register | Asset tag unique per organization, type, condition, status, purchase cost and date | Fully configurable asset records with unlimited custom fields and attachments |
| Assignment / check-out to people | Assign and return with dates and history, plus a "my assets" view for every employee | Check-in/check-out with reservations and approval workflows |
| QR / barcode tags | Prints a QR label per asset from the detail page — but nothing in VanVed scans it back | Generates tags and scans them in its own mobile app, with full offline mode on Pro |
| Depreciation | Straight-line book value computed per asset — no salvage value, no other method, no schedule report | Multiple depreciation methods with schedules and fixed-asset reporting |
| Audits / physical verification | Not built | Scan-based audits by location with reconciliation of missing items |
| Warranty and AMC tracking | A warranty expiry on the asset, with days remaining shown in the register — no AMC field, and nothing reminds anyone before it lapses | Warranty and contract dates with expiry reminders |
| Maintenance history | An asset can be marked Under Repair, but no maintenance records are kept | Preventive maintenance schedules, work orders and service history per asset |
| Ties to employees, payroll and offboarding | Assignments point at the same Party record HR uses, so an exit shows what is still held | Integrates with HR systems, but is not itself the HR system |
| Pricing | Included in the platform subscription | Asset-count based, commonly $1,500–$3,000+ a year even for small deployments |
Where Asset Panda is ahead of us today
Asset Panda is a proper asset-management product. It scans tags in a mobile app — including fully offline — runs location audits that reconcile what is actually there, tracks warranty and contract expiry, and keeps preventive-maintenance schedules and service history per asset. VanVed prints a QR code that nothing in VanVed can read back, keeps no maintenance record beyond an "Under Repair" status, and while it now stores a warranty expiry it has no AMC field and no reminder — the date sits on the record until somebody looks.
We publish this because a comparison that only flatters us is worth nothing to you. If one of these gaps is the thing you actually need, Asset Panda may well be the better buy.
