VanVed vs Tally Prime
for Finance
Why businesses choose VanVed over Tally Prime
VanVed's books are multi-user and multi-tenant from the first line of code, run in a browser, and sit next to CRM, HR, POS and inventory in the same database. There is no licence to buy, no Windows machine to keep switched on, and no data sync between the shop floor and the accountant.
Capability by capability
Every row below is what our 2026 research found — including the rows we lose.
| Capability | VanVed | Tally Prime |
|---|---|---|
| Runs in a browser, nothing to install | Web app, any device with a login | Windows install; remote access is an add-on |
| Cost to start | Included in the subscription — books are one of ~40 modules | Perpetual licence, tens of thousands of rupees plus AMC |
| Chart of accounts, journals, ledgers | Yes, with a seeded default chart per organisation | Yes — the deepest in the Indian market |
| E-invoicing (IRN), e-way bills, GSTR upload and 2A/2B reconciliation | GSTR-1/3B export only; no IRN, no e-way bill, no 2B match | All of it, from inside the voucher screen |
| TDS / TCS | TDS tracking on payments and expenses now — section, rate, computed amount, payable/receivable reports; no TCS and no return filing | Yes, with returns |
| Bank reconciliation | CSV import of bank statement lines with auto-match suggestions and a reconciliation summary — not connected banking | Connected banking and smart reconciliation |
| Inventory, payroll, CRM and POS in the same system | Same database, same login, one subscription | Inventory and payroll yes; CRM and modern POS no |
| Your accountant already knows it | New product, no CA familiarity | The default every Indian CA works in |
Where Tally Prime is ahead of us today
On compliance depth Tally still wins outright: e-invoicing, e-way bills, direct GSTR upload with 2A/2B auto-reconciliation, TCS, TDS return filing, and connected banking. VanVed can produce a GSTR-1/3B file to upload by hand, tracks TDS (but not TCS, and files no return), and reconciles a bank statement you import as a CSV rather than a live feed. Your CA also already works in Tally and does not work in VanVed.
We publish this because a comparison that only flatters us is worth nothing to you. If one of these gaps is the thing you actually need, Tally Prime may well be the better buy.
