VanVed vs greytHR
for Leave
Why businesses choose VanVed over greytHR
The ledger is the differentiator. Every day of leave that moves in VanVed leaves an auditable row naming the entry type, the amount, the linked request and the person who caused it, and a manual adjustment is refused without a written reason — which is stronger year-end evidence than most systems in this price band produce.
Capability by capability
Every row below is what our 2026 research found — including the rows we lose.
| Capability | VanVed | greytHR |
|---|---|---|
| Leave policy configuration | Yes — per-type quota, accrual, carry-forward cap, half-day, document rule; five Indian defaults seeded on first use | Yes, in every plan |
| Weekly off configuration | One setting for the whole organization — no per-branch, per-shift or alternate-Saturday pattern | Yes, per policy and shift |
| Approval chain beyond one HR admin | Yes, but only when the separate Approvals module is enabled and a flow is configured; otherwise any HR admin decides | Yes, built into leave itself |
| Manager sees a report's leave balance | No — balances are visible to the employee and to HR admins only, so a manager approving a request cannot see what is left | Yes, in the manager portal |
| Balance ledger / audit trail | Yes — every accrual, carry-forward, use, restore, encashment and manual adjustment is a ledger row with a reason and an actor | Yes |
| Supporting document on a leave request | Yes — required automatically past a configured number of days, and the upload is checked by file signature not just extension | Yes |
| Comp-off | None | Yes |
| Apply for leave from the phone | Yes — balances, history and a request form in the Flutter app, but no half-day option, no document upload and no cancel | Yes, employee and manager apps |
| Leave encashment | Yes, admin-initiated onto a payroll run | Yes, employee can raise the request |
Where greytHR is ahead of us today
greytHR's leave module assumes a manager in the loop and VanVed's does not. A manager cannot see a direct report's leave balance at all — that query is restricted to HR admins — so on the approvals path they are deciding blind. Weekly offs are a single organization-wide setting, which cannot express alternate Saturdays or a branch that runs a different week, and comp-off is missing entirely.
We publish this because a comparison that only flatters us is worth nothing to you. If one of these gaps is the thing you actually need, greytHR may well be the better buy.
What VanVed's Leave module does

One record per employee, shared by attendance and payroll.
- Leave requests
Requested, approved or rejected, feeding into attendance.
- Pay records
Base pay, bonuses and deductions add up to each person’s net pay. Statutory payroll runs (PF, ESI, PT) are the Payroll module.
