VanVed vs Envoy
for Visitor Management
Why businesses choose VanVed over Envoy
Envoy charges per building — around $362 a month per location on Premium — for a product that only manages visitors. VanVed's kiosk, pre-registration, deny list and on-site board cost nothing extra and sit next to the HR roster the hosts already come from, so a host is an employee record rather than a separately-synced directory.
Capability by capability
Every row below is what our 2026 research found — including the rows we lose.
| Capability | VanVed | Envoy |
|---|---|---|
| Unattended self-service kiosk | Real full-screen kiosk — phone lookup, selfie capture, host picker, idle and post-visit auto-reset | iPad kiosk app, the category standard |
| Pre-registration and invite | Staff issue a single-use expiring token; the visitor fills their own details on a public throttled page | Invites with calendar integration and visitor emails |
| NDA or document signed at check-in | Not built — the kiosk collects name, company, purpose, host and photo only | Legal documents and NDAs signed during sign-in |
| Badge printing | Browser-printable pass carrying the visitor's photo and a QR code — but no badge printer support, and the QR opens the staff visit page rather than checking anyone out | Supported badge printers, though it is a paid add-on |
| Host notification | In-app notification, plus email and outbound webhook when configured — no SMS | Slack, Teams, email, SMS and push |
| Deny list | Per-visitor block flag; a blocked person is refused at check-in and the attempt is logged as a denied visit | Blocklist plus third-party watchlist screening on higher tiers |
| Who is on site right now | Today board lists everyone currently checked in, and the visit log exports to CSV | Evacuation lists and emergency notifications |
| Multi-location | The today board and the visit log both filter by branch, and the log names it per visit | Per-location configuration, and priced per location |
| Price | Included in the platform fee, every location | Free Basic tier; Premium around $362 per location per month annually |
Where Envoy is ahead of us today
Envoy is a security and compliance product; VanVed is a front-desk log. Envoy signs NDAs and legal documents during sign-in, prints proper badges on supported printers, screens against watchlists, notifies hosts over Slack, Teams and SMS, and produces evacuation lists per location. VanVed has no document sign-in, no printer support and no SMS. Multi-branch is now real — the board and the log both filter on it — and the printed pass now carries a photo and a QR, though the QR is a link to the staff page rather than a scan that checks the visitor out.
We publish this because a comparison that only flatters us is worth nothing to you. If one of these gaps is the thing you actually need, Envoy may well be the better buy.
