VanVed vs DocuSign
for Documents
Why businesses choose VanVed over DocuSign
For an internal acknowledgement — a policy, a handbook, an offer letter going to someone already in your records — VanVed now runs a real multi-signer sign order and produces a certificate of completion once everyone has signed, with a name, timestamp and IP against the exact document version, at no per-envelope cost, where DocuSign's own plans cap you at 100 envelopes per user per year before you start paying more.
Capability by capability
Every row below is what our 2026 research found — including the rows we lose.
| Capability | VanVed | DocuSign |
|---|---|---|
| Cost per signature | No per-envelope cost and no cap on how many signatures you request | $25/user/mo Standard and $40 Business Pro annual, both capped at 100 envelopes per user per year |
| Signer needs an account | No — an unguessable token link is all the signer needs | No account needed either |
| Signer can read the document before signing | No — the signing page shows the document's identity but never the file itself | The signer reads the document in the envelope |
| Delivering the request to the signer | The link is generated and handed back to staff to send themselves — nothing is emailed | Emails the envelope, chases with reminders, and expires it |
| Proof of signing | A signature certificate of completion is now generated once every signer in the sign order has signed, alongside each signer's typed name, timestamp and IP in the document's audit log | A certificate of completion sealed to the signed PDF |
| Signed output | A certificate of completion is generated as a document, but the original file itself is not stamped or tamper-sealed the way a signed PDF is | A tamper-evident signed PDF |
| Signer identity verification | None — whoever holds the link can sign | SMS authentication and ID verification, charged per use |
| Templates and bulk send | Neither — one request per signer per version | Templates on all paid plans; bulk send on Business Pro |
Where DocuSign is ahead of us today
This is still a signature record, not e-signature in the sense DocuSign means. The signer never sees the document on the signing page, the link is not emailed to them — staff have to send it by hand — the original document is not itself stamped into a tamper-evident signed PDF, and there is no identity verification, so anyone holding the link can sign. For anything that has to stand up as evidence, use DocuSign.
We publish this because a comparison that only flatters us is worth nothing to you. If one of these gaps is the thing you actually need, DocuSign may well be the better buy.
